Brad Paisley – Moonshine In The Trunk
The title ‘Moonshine in the Trunk,’ of the 11th studio album from Paisley, seems very fitting, before even pressing ‘play’. Paisley knows a thing or two about having a good time, with a drink in hand, as previously proven with his hits “Alcohol” and “Whisky Lullaby”. But, did the album live up to the hype?
We think so.
Paisley is cutting up “Limes” for margaritas and handing out cold cans of Bud Light in “Crushin’ It”, dreams of winning the lotto yet being content with what he has in “Riverbank” and cheers an imaginary daughter for breaking the ‘glass ceiling’, which may also be the first country ballad to approach that particular notion about sexism. “American Flag on the Moon” is a great toast to America, while showing that you can do anything you can dream. Not everything on an album can be sunshine and rainbows, as “4wp”, found Paisley was trying to rush through too many musical ideas and too fast.
Once again showcasing his clever songwriting, Paisley wrote or co-wrote thirteen of the tracks. His vocals are full of personality and his over-the-top guitar work sounds as good as ever. One thing that is different this time around, is that Paisley has taken a step back from being so blunt about social issues and focuses more on having a good time.
The album is fun, full of energy and we’re sure you will find yourself laughing at his wit when you’re not singing along.
Guest stars include Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris and Bryan Sutton.
