After an incredible run at SXSW that had Paste, Austin Chronicle, and BlackBook heralding them as “ones to watch,” Imaginary Cities have announced a full U.S. tour, including a Vancouver stop on July 12. The band celebrated the release of their debut album, Temporary Resident, with a special New York City show at Rockwood Music Hall on April 10th.

Temporary Resident is a staggering collection of beautifully wild pop songs that was nominated for a 2011 Polaris Prize and earned the five-piece a highly coveted opening spot on the Pixes North American tour. They band also took home Western Canadian Music Award for best Pop album and hit #1 album on both the !earshot and CHARTattack Canadian National Campus Charts before its official release date – the first album to do so.

With principle songwriters and founders Marti Sarbit and Rusty Matyas at the helm, Temporary Resident is an exciting debut that brilliantly demonstrates an incredible songwriting team. Marti’s distinct voice is the thread that runs through the music, and is layered masterfully with Rusty’s instrumentation. With an incredible live show that brings their recordings to life with soul and vitality, Imaginary Cities have toured with the likes of Ra Ra Riot, Young Galaxy, Rural Alberta Advantage, The Dears, and The Besnard Lakes.

Check out the video for “Temporary Resident,” directed by Christopher Mills, here.
