SafetySuit Spotlighted With iTUNES Exclusive Week Of January 3
SAFETYSUIT SPOTLIGHTED WITH iTUNES EXCLUSIVE WEEK OF JANUARY 3
ALBUM TO BE RELEASED WIDE JANUARY 10
BAND’S NEW “LET GO” VIDEO DEBUTS ON VH1’S VOTER-GENERATED TOP 20 COUNTDOWN
Fans anxious to get their hands on THESE TIMES (Universal Republic), the upcoming album from Nashville-based quartet Safetysuit, won’t have to wait until the disc’s official release date. Beginning January 3, iTunes will offer fans an exclusive week-long opportunity to nab the album before it goes wide on January 10. THESE TIMES features production by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry), Espionage (Train, Mary J. Blige) and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, and has been generating buzz thanks to burgeoning radio play for hit single “Let Go,” which was co-written and produced by Tedder. “I love that song,” says lead singer/guitarist Doug Brown. “It’s such a departure for us. Ryan is obviously a very pop-minded producer, so I said, ‘Let’s have fun with it; let’s do something that’s not the norm.’ It turned out great, and it kills live. It’s very interactive and people get it right away.”
The band—Brown, drummer Tate Cunningham, bassist Jeremy Henshaw and guitarist Dave Garofolo—recently shot a companion video for “Let Go,” which just debuted on the voter-generated VH1 Top 20 Countdown and can be seen here. In other band news, SafetySuit lead singer Doug Brown wrote a song for Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster, the new album from American Idol’s James Durbin. The track, titled “May,” was praised by USA Today as a “heart-tugging, piano-based ballad.”
THESE TIMES is the follow-up to 2008’s Life Left To Go, which featured the hit single “Stay.” Spotlighted by VH1 as a band “You Oughta Know,” the group toured endlessly, playing over 200 shows and selling more than 500,000 singles along the way. Earlier this year, the group performed alongside The Script, Lifehouse and Mat Kearney on VH1’s “The Best Cruise Ever,” and recently returned home from a military tour of Asia.
