X&Y

4/5

Before the release of Coldplay’s newest album “X&Y,” fans eagerly awaited another addition to their previous ethereal and unique albums “Parachutes” and “A Rush of Blood to the Head.” After producing two incredible albums, some fans just don’t understand the pressure involved in creating an album of equal magnitude. Although fans always tend to have excessively high expectations, Coldplay has been successful in maintaining their unique style and sound.

“X&Y” is a prime example of this, demonstrating what they do best. Pangs of joy and sadness are beautifully intertwined into such songs as “What If” “Fix You” “A Message” and “Til Kingdom Come.” What Coldplay does best is producing honest music that is obviously from the heart, and this is what makes them the great band that they are. “X&Y” has also furthered their status in the musical world by making them even more untouchable. Their songs hold a truth that cannot be weathered even by time itself. With that said, listening to this album is like lying naked in a garden; absolutely breathtaking.
