Warner Music Signs Country Singer-Songwriter Meghan Patrick
Warner Music is thrilled to announce the signing of up-and-coming country music singer-songwriter Meghan Patrick. The announcement was made today by Warner Music Canada president Steve Kane.
“Meghan has a fantastic voice and is a charismatic live performer,” said Kane. “But what really sold it for me was the strength of her songwriting, which told me she was a creative force to be reckoned with.”
“Signing a deal with Warner is a huge milestone for me in a career I have been pursuing most of my life,” said Meghan Patrick. “To me, the most important part of signing with them is the fact that I felt like I was joining a family, not just entering into a business agreement. I felt they not only understood, but also supported who I am as an artist and as a person, and the direction I want to take in my musical journey…and remaining true to myself and my vision as an artist is very important to me. I am incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of this label, and I feel confident it is exactly where I need to be to make great music, and to create the career I’ve always hoped for.”
Born and raised in Bowmanville, Ontario, just outside of Toronto, Meghan has dedicated her entire life to music. Growing up in a family surrounded by music, she began taking singing lessons when she was 12 and started playing the guitar in order to write music for the lyrics she had already composed.
“I wanted to be self-sufficient as a creative artist,” says Meghan. “I quickly got into Neil Young, the Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Merle Haggard and Emmylou Harris. And a big influence on me vocally is Aretha Franklin.”
Meaghan was an integral member of the popular roots act The Stone Sparrows, who had success with their independently released self-titled bluegrass album, and in 2013 she stretched out as a solo artist, winning the Star Search competition run by country music radio station KX96.
In 2014, Meghan’s undeniable talent as a songwriter led to a publishing deal with Ole Music and Ralph James, CEO of The Agency Group signed on to represent her for live appearances. In March of 2015 she performed in the Warner offices – guitar in hand – and talks quickly got under way leading to today’s announcement.
Meghan Patrick is currently working on writing the material for her Warner Music Canada debut. More information about her first release will be issued in the future.
